Writing
Hi, I'm Mrs Andrade and I am the writing leader here at Dairy Meadow Primary School.
Why I enjoy my area of subject responsibility:
Growing up I always had a great interest in writing. I would be writing in my diary at the end of a day, writing letters to my friends and family in Portugal and re-writing the lyrics to my favourite Spice Girls songs (the best band).
This interest flourished when I went on to study Media and Marketing and became aware how powerful language is and how much emotion can be created from the words we write. That's the beauty of being a writer, your words can have such an impact on your audience, whoever they may be.
You will find me at my happiest when I am in the middle of a writing lesson with my class. We are all excited, taking inspiration from each other and sharing ideas with great confidence. I hope my passion and enthusiasm for writing will inspire children to explore and find the writer inside.
What I want to achieve in my subject area:
I want all our children to see themselves as writers. I want to encourage them to explore their own writing style, to write about subjects and themes that interest them and to consider the impact their words will have on the reader as they’re writing.
Things to look forward to:
We continue to explore fantastic books that spark creativity and ideas to enable our children to become the writers that they want to be. The children will get an opportunity to meet children’s author Serena Patel during World Book Day in March and be able to ask lots of questions about being a writer.
