Hello, my name is Mr. McInnes and I am the Drama and Oracy champion here at Dairy Meadow Primary school

 Why I enjoy my area of subject responsibility

Without entertainment, life would be very boring, and we cannot have entertainment without entertainers. Drama and Oracy are so heavily linked, and absolutely imperative to a wide range of professions. More than just that, acting and speaking are just fun. It’s a joy to take on a role, and demonstrate new ideas to other people. It’s also truly powerful to be able to share thoughts, criticisms and goals with others through the power of voice. I hope to imbue students at Dairy Meadow Primary with the same excitement for sharing ideas as I do.

What I want to achieve in my subject area

I want all students to feel confident in their ability to put their hands up in class, to join in on conversations, and share their understandings with others. I want to see students also be comfortable in working alongside one another to represent ideas through their own words and movements.

 Things to look forward to

Already year 1 and 2 have taken part in an anti-bullying workshop run by West End in Schools, and years 5 and 6 have taken part in a hip hop literacy with the team at Student of Life. Music and Drama club will be continuing as well. Shakespeare week, where every student will be introduced to the works of William Shakespeare, set planning, and acting through written scenes, will be taking place in the summer term.
