Online Aviation Careers Event

On Friday 24th May 2024, Year 6 buckled up their seatbelts, looked for their nearest emergency exits and jetted off on a journey to learn all about jobs in the aviation industy.

After building their own gliders the other week and being only a stone's throw away from Heathrow Airport, we wanted our future pilots/engineers and air hostesses to understand what potential career paths were open to them in the world of flight.

Our children virtually met the following individuals who had these key pieces of advice:

Manpreet - Security Officer - "Follow your dreams and never give up- don’t let anything get you down. I knew what I wanted to do from a young age and I was inspired to study aviation."

Steph - Aircraft Engineer - "You never stop learning when you’re in aviation- always a new job to make your job fun. I learned how to fly at age 10 and have my first solo flight at age 16 and started my first job in aircraft maintenance in 2009. How things work has always fascinated me."

Mike - Noise and Air Traffic Management Expert - "I’m inspired by connecting people ,imports and exports and I enjoy making things quieter for people who live near by. My top tip is never be scared to try something new. You never know where it will lead to!"

Our resident Year 6 aviation authority, Hassan, said: "It was nice that they opened new career paths for us- they showed us we could  be a pilot, a medical assistant, or other jobs linked to aviation"
