Monday 2 February 2026 Oscar from Beavertrust visit Year 3 You might remember that last year our Year 2's visited Paradise Fields in Greenford? They weren't there for the McDonalds or shopping, but to see the rewilding project for a set of beavers. Reintroducing these mammals back in to the wild has been a massive success - they were even featured on David Attenborough's new programme - London.

Friday 24 October 2025 Nursery Traditional Clothes Day We are blessed here at Dairy Meadow to have so many different cultures represented in our classrooms. To celebrate this, our wonderful Nursery decided to have a traditional clothes day. The purpose of this was to recognise the differences and similarities between us all.

Monday 9 June 2025 Art of Wellbeing - the halfway point! As keen followers of the website know, some of our Year 6 children have been taking part in a programme called The Art of Wellbeing with our drama expert Giles. The whole purpose of the project is to build on the skills the children already have to make them even more confident and comfortable expressing themselves.

After the unbridled success of our Maths Ambassadors, Miss Spilsted had the wonderful idea of launching Reading Ambassadors. This team of amazing Y6's will be supporting younger children in their reading during soft starts. They have been instructed to use Bug Club to access a range of texts to promote reading fluency and stamina.

Wednesday 15 January 2025 Year 5 Old Vic Performance! The famous actor (and star of my favourite film, The Hustler) Paul Newman once said: "To be an actor, you first have to be a child." I'm not overly sure what that means, but what I do know is that the children in Year 5 have proved themselves to be amazing actors and actresses.

Tuesday 7th May 2024 our intrepid Year 5 warriors started their online after school English tuition in collaboration with the Chandran Foundation. Now, this was no normal competition, the children's efforts were entered into the Ealing Book Festival and I'm pleased to say we had 4 commendations!

Wednesday 6 December 2023 Heartlink Visit Year 6 It's an undoubtable fact that the London Borough of Ealing is full of beautiful, kind-hearted individuals. We were fortunate enough today to be visited by four such people. Lolin, Bernard, Mohinder and Bachitar are all locals who give up their time to work for the charity Heartlink - they spent a wonderful Wednesday afternoon working with Year 6 to supplement their work on the circulatory system.

Friday 6 October 2023 Featherstone Readers Intervening! It's been an absolute pleasure for me to co-ordinate a reading intervention for some of our children in conjunction with Mr Webb at Featherstone High. From an initial 30 minute meeting, we managed to rope in Mrs Cheung and Miss Spilsted to help co-ordinate 16 Year 12 and 13 students to demonstrate and coach reading fluency to some of our Year 2 children.

Monday 25 September 2023 Jumpsec visit Years 5 and 6. Friday the 22nd September 2023 saw Dairy Meadow hold our first careers event of the academic year. As you know, we want all our young people to dream big but they can only do that if they are exposed to the world of work from an early age. Thursday 14 September 2023 Tuberculosis Awareness Workshop Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that most commonly affects the lungs and is caused by a type of bacteria present in the air. It spreads when people: cough, sneeze or spit. Sadly cases of tuberculosis are on the rise in the borough of Ealing. As a result, the NHS are running a workshop about the disease. Monday 17 July 2023 Year 4 Visit Kidzania On Friday 14th July 2023, Year 4 participated in a trip to KidZania- Westfield, London. This trip was an exciting and engaging part of our curriculum linking to future jobs and helping the children understand how the world works. The children were able to experiment with learning in an indoor city where they worked, earned Kidzo's and played just like in the real world. The activities were designed with reference to the national curriculum, and helped bring classroom learning to life around STEM, literacy and PSHE.

Monday 17 July 2023 School's Veg Plant Giveaway Dairy Meadow was fortunate enough to receive a plant donation by MindFood during their third annual schools' veg plant giveaway. Mindfood is an Ealing-based mental health charity supporting people with depression and anxiety by providing courses in food growing, gardening, art and more. The project started out in Lockdown 2020 as a way to show schools that stayed open that we were thinking of them as they supported the children of health workers and key workers through the pandemic.

Monday 12 June 2023 Plot 17 Rocked the House Picture the scene ok... You come into school ready for: Guided Reading, Maths and History etc when you notice a huge multicoloured van in the playground. On further inspection you notice that inside there is a set of DJ decks and a rather large speaker system. Thursday 8th June 2023 wasn't just a normal day in the Dairy Meadow - it was the day that Plot 17 brought their message of nature and sustainability to our young environmentalists.

In a world of: Nintendo Switches, Fortnite and Tik Tok, it's easy to forget just how amazing the local library can be. Monday 13 March 2023 School Council Trip - Holland House Friday 10th March 2023, our School Councillors left their roles as mild mannered pupils and embarked on a challenging new career within the City of London. We spent a wonderful day working with Dr Sharon Wright at Holland House, in the shadow of the Gherkin, giving our young people a glimpse of potential jobs they could be doing in the future (with only a 30 minute commute on the Elizabeth Line).

We had a pyjama day but there was no sleeping on the job as we raised £340 for an amazing cause. Friday 11 November 2022 Elm Class HS2 Trip On Thursday 10th November 2022, our young engineers were able to visit the site of the HS2 tunnelling project at Brakespear Road in Ruislip. This was the culmination of a nearly two year project in which our children were immersed into the world of construction and it's associated jobs in conjunction with SCS Railways (a subsidery of Skanska).

Tuesday 8 November 2022 Frozen Planet II - Live Science Lesson KS2 had an exciting Science opportunity to join a live lesson delivered by BBC Teach! During the live session, pupils were inspired to keep learning about our natural world and the work of scientists and modern-day explorers. Monday 31 October 2022 Monster Kat Theatre Visit Year 4 Friday the 21st October 2022 saw our wonderful Year 4's have a visit from the always entertaining Monster Kat theatre company. The purpose of the visit was to run some anti-bullying workshops in which our young people can recognise feelings and develop the skills needed to tackle any problems that require the regulation of emotions. As you can see from the photos below, everyone had an amazing time!

Tuesday 18 October 2022 Year 3/4 Boys Football at Three Bridges It was a beautiful morning on Tuesday 18th October 2022. Mr Feldman and Mrs Koia took the years 3 and 4 boys into battle in the mighty Southall Cluster at the home of their local rivals Three Bridges.

Friday 14 October 2022 PC McGuigan Visits the Nursery Woop! Woop! It's the sound of the police! Thursday 13th October 2022 saw an exciting visitor come and meet all our wonderful Nursery children. PC McGuigan is one of the school's officers for Ealing. Our junior constables and detectives were able to name parts of the uniform including different types of helmets, a police vest and handcuffs.

Friday 14 October 2022 Maple Class Assembly Heave! Ho! - get into your longships and learn all about one of the most tumultuous times in British history. If you were not up to date on your knowledge of the Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, you should have come to Maple Class' assembly. Miss Steadman and her brood made their History topic of Invasion come alive in a wonderfully informative presentation. We had special guests such as King Arthur, King Offa, Thor and even evil Loki!

Friday 14 October 2022 We're Bowled Over! Wednesday 12th October 2022 saw some of our children attend the tenpin bowling competition at Acton Ten Pin. None of our children went on STRIKE, there wasn't a SPARE second to be had as they practiced their skills of accuracy and co-ordination.

Tuesday 11 October 2022 Poetry Week at Dairy Meadow To celebrate National Poetry Week, Dairy Meadow have been reflecting on some of their favourite poets and poems from all over the globe. Whether it was Mrs Malik's love of the Brazilian poet Joseph Coelho or Mr Feldman's appreciation of the Swedish national bard Tomas Transtromer, it was wonderful to be able to share all our favourite lyrics on the theme of 'Stepping out into the Environment'.

Monday 3 October 2022 Dairy Meadow's very own Mo Farah! Whilst most of us might have had a lie in on Sunday morning, Sharvi from Marigold Class had already put on her trainers and travelled all the way up to Greenwich Park for the London Marathon. As part of the TCS Mini Marathon our Key Stage 1 elite athlete managed to run an entire mile in record time and won her first (of many) medals.

Monday 3 October 2022 Year 3 and 4 Girls Football Tournament Friday 30th September 2022 saw our Years 3 and 4 girls football team take on all comers at Featherstone High School. Considering it was the first time they had all played together, the record of one win and one draw, out of four games, was an amazing result!

Friday 30 September 2022 Willow Class Assembly The morning of Friday 30th September 2022 saw a packed house in the hall as our first class assembly of the year was delivered with aplomb by Willow Class.

Friday 30 September 2022 Year 5/6 Boys Football Tournament Thursday 29th September 2022, saw our first competitive sport tournament of the year saw our intrepid 5/6 boys football team take part in the borough tournament at Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub. Coach Perry and his assistant Ms Francois saw one of our teams progress to the semi final, which they sadly were defeated in. Clement in Year 6 put in a particularly eye catching performance with four goals across the day.

Friday 30 September 2022 Building Future London Careers Day On Thursday 29th September 2022, Key Stage 2 had the luxury of a facilitated showcase from Primary Futures to gain an insight into the world of construction. Considering all the building work in our local area (GWQ, redevelopment of Southall Station, HS2) our children had the chance to further deepen their knowledge of the building industry and learn more about potential employment opportunities.

Thursday 29 September 2022 Reception's Local Walk On Wednesday 28th September 2022, our Reception classes put on their walking shoes to investigate their local area further. Everyone had a wonderful time walking around in the sunshine and learning about all the local amenities. Hargun in Lily class summed it up best when I asked her what her favourite part of Southall was, "I love the park! I went on the slide". A massive thank you to Miss Geddes, Mrs Lall and Miss Keelson as well as all our lovely parent helpers for making the trip possible.

Monday 26 September 2022 Ealing Sewn Up Challenge Our Year 6 students were able to show off their creativity whilst gaining an insight into the wonderful world of textiles and design. Our young fashionistas were able to work with a variety of experts in the fashion industry to learn about the processes involved in creating but also upcycling old clothes.

Monday 26 September 2022 Featherstone High Visit Dairy Meadow Today our Year 6's were fortunate to have a visit from Mr Sangha, head of Year 7 at Featherstone High School. He told our young people all about the differences between life in primary and secondary school and hopefully allayed some fears about next year.

We were lucky to welcome Gloria Cheng from Brunel University alongside her student ambassador (and engineering student) Sanz. This was a great opportunity for our Year 6's to start thinking about further education, especially as they will have to start thinking abut their GCSE and A Level options in the not too distant future!

Tuesday 12 July 2022 Reception visit to Odds Farm It wasn't just Old McDonald who was having fun at the farm last week! Lily and Rose Class put on their wellies and got up close and personal with our furry and feathered friends. It wasn't all just looking at cute animals however as our young agriculturalists were put to work. First they had to feed the sheep and goats, then they had to milk the cow and finally they got to ride on the tractor!

Friday 10 June 2022 STEMbiotics Workshop Today we were lucky to have a visit from Jack, who works for Hyett Education. He came in to work with our Key Stage 2 children to demonstrate the links between coding and robotics. Our children were able to build and program robots through the creation of an algorithm. They then used an IPad to control the robots movement along a zig zag track. With robots being a key component of work at nearby Heathrow Airport, maybe we have the next generation of engineers in our midst

Friday 27 May 2022 Our Jubilee Celebrations Today at Dairy Meadow we celebrated the Queen's platinum jubilee in style! Not only were our children wearing their finest red, white and blue clothes but we also had a quintessentially English garden party! (yes, the crusts of the sandwiches were cut off!).

Monday 28 February 2022 Year 2 Visit Windsor Last week our Year 2 classes visited Windsor Castle as part of their Magnificent Monarchs topic. The children were enthralled at seeing the world's oldest occupied castle and were able to reinforce all the wonderful facts they have learned about monarchy in Britain. Well done to Mrs Sahota for organising such a wonderfully educational visit.

Friday 3 December 2021 Nursery Firefighter Visit! We were very fortunate on Friday 3rd December 2021 that Southall fire brigade had time to come and visit our Nursery children. As part of our topic on 'People Who Help Us', our children got to meet some real life firefighters, have a tour of a fire engine and even use the fire hose! Who knows, it might be the first steps in finding our next brave members of the emergency services.

Thursday 2 December 2021 Biodiversity in the Dairy Meadow On Thursday 2nd December 2021, our years 1,2 and 3 children were fortunate enough to have a talk from Natasha Gavin, the parks education officer for Ealing. The purpose of the talk were for our young botanists and zoologists to appreciate the wonderful array of different wildlife that are present within the borough.

Monday 15 November 2021 Year 6 WW1 Workshop To commemorate Remembrance Day, Oak and Elm class took part in a workshop entitled Poetry and Poppies. Through this interactive session our soldiers were able to get a deeper understanding of what it was like to be a soldier during the Great War as well as be exposed to some of the famous works of battlefield poets such as Wilfred Owen.

Thursday 21 October 2021 Reception Mathematics Morning The morning of Wednesday 21st October 2021 saw Miss Ross deliver an inspiring talk about how to best support your child's mathematical development in Reception. There was a real focus on using objects to support the concept of number as well as some top tips when adding, subtracting and grouping.

Thursday 21 October 2021 Nursery Meet the Police It was an exciting day in the Nursery on Wednesday 20th October as PC's Bal and Terri came to visit.It tied in with their topic 'Superheroes' (learning about 'real life' superheroes) and built on a previous visit from Spiderman!

Tuesday 19 October 2021 Year 5 are tunnelling with HS2! This week Year 5 learnt all about Tunnelling. We looked at the history of tunnelling, where it was done by hand, and compared it to modern day technology using machinery such as the Tunnelling Boring Machine (TBM). We learnt that tunnelling has had an abundance of benefits to society, being cheaper, safer and making travel more direct for the public. The children were astonished that the TBM is around 2000 tonnes which is equivalent to 340 elephants and that it is the size of 1 and a half football pitches! Year 5 were full of questions which were answered very thoroughly by the Engineers of HS2.

Friday 15 October 2021 Year 5 Engineering with HS2 Redwood and Willow Class are currently in the middle of an exciting project with HS2, the provider of a high speed rail network for the whole country. The purpose of the project is for our children to understand the different processes and employment opportunities that can occur within the railway industry.

Tuesday 12 October 2021 Spiderman Visits Early Years! Our superheroes in the Early Years had a surprise visitor when Peter Parker himself (better known as Spiderman) visited their classrooms. Spidey told us he was so excited to hear how the children had been learning about all the people who help them on a day to day basis. As mini-superheroesall of Nursery and Reception classes have been able toshow off their kindness to each other.

Friday 8 October 2021 Year 6 Trip to the RAF Museum Hendon On Thursday 7th October 2021, Elm and Oak Class visited the RAF Museum in Hendon to supplement their Britain at War topic. The purpose of the visit was to find out a little bit more about the people, machinery and politics of the Second World War. Our historians had the opportunity to actually see replicas of the aircraft used in the Battle of Britain as well as experiencing a 'real life' air raid.
