Hello! My name is Mrs Uppal, and I am the Skills Builder champion here at Dairy Meadow Primary School.
Why I enjoy my area of subject responsibility:
I am very proud of the school’s provision to support the children’s essential skills for every stage of life. Working with the skills builder framework supports every child to build these skills as a core part of their learning. I believe children who can master the essential skills can truly make the most of their time in school and thrive in their wider lives. As the skills builder champion, I hope to pass on my enthusiasm for developing these essential skills to the children of Dairy Meadow.
What I want to achieve in my subject area:
“Believe you can and you’re halfway there” this is a quote I whole heartedly encourage and want to promote across our school environment. Through the knowledge of ‘Teamwork, Aiming high and Staying positive’ I want all the children at Dairy Meadow to have the courage to believe in themselves. Finally, I would like the children to use all the essential skills to support their school journey and wider lives.
Things to look forward to:
Three times a year, each year group participates in an exciting whole class project for a week of afternoon activities. In these lessons the children apply and develop three key skills through project- based challenges with real-life elements from business.
