Dairy Meadow Primary and Nursery School

Religious Education

Hello! My name is Mrs Attia, and I am the RE champion here at Dairy Meadow Primary School.

Why I enjoy my area of subject responsibility:

As an individual who has been born and brought up in the borough of Ealing, I have always been surrounded by different cultures and religions. Being a Muslim myself, I have always been intrigued to find out more about my religion as well as my peers’ ideas and beliefs. This has led to RE becoming one of my favourite subjects as a student and teacher. Participating in RE allowed me to grow as an individual, giving me an opportunity to reflect on myself and what I believe. Learning about different religions helped me become more knowledgeable about the society we live in, as well as allowing me to appreciate the beauty of diversity.

What I want to achieve in my subject area:

Through RE, I aim to pass on my love for the subject and ensure children gain a high-quality education in RE. I want children to understand the different ideas and beliefs that we have in our society whilst allowing them to reflect on their beliefs. During RE lessons, I want children to feel confident enough to share their thoughts with each other, allowing them to embrace their similarities and differences. Therefore, shaping them into respectful and tolerant individuals.

Things to look forward to:

As a school, all learners will be participating in an exciting RE competition. Through the set task, children will self-reflect and think about their own ideas and beliefs, thus gaining a better understanding of themselves. There will be winners in each key stage with prizes to be won.
