Music
Hello! My name is Mr McInnes, and I am the Music champion here at Dairy Meadow Primary School.
Why I enjoy my area of subject responsibility:
‘Music can change the world.’ Ludwig van Beethoven
Since becoming the music champion, I have been reflecting on what music means to me. Quite simply, music is my life. It is my friend, my therapist and at times, my escape. Music has the ability to support me in many ways, it calms and relaxes me, encourages me to express my feelings and is a source of inspiration and enjoyment. From an early age I have always loved listening to music of all genres, and I could not imagine getting through a day without it. Pupils I have previously taught will remember that I always have music softly playing throughout the day in our classroom.
What I want to achieve in my subject area:
I agree that music is universal and can be enjoyed by anyone, anywhere in the world. It is important we offer the children at Dairy Meadow the opportunity to develop their creative skills and learn about music using a range of different instruments, techniques and activities. I look forward to nurturing and developing the musical talents across our school as well as fostering a love for the arts and an appreciation for the role music plays in many cultures.
‘Music is the universal language of mankind.’ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Things to look forward to:
I am currently in the process of creating a ‘celebration’ display board in our music area. This board will celebrate the musical talents of children and staff at Dairy Meadow Primary School.
